Courier champions

Stories about, for and told by Royal Mail colleagues have helped Courier to be crowned the UK’s best newspaper for employees.
The Institute of Internal Communications (IoIC) judging panel bestowed the top prize on Courier in both the Best Newspaper and Best Writing (print) categories at its annual awards – held virtually this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
We beat off competition from prestigious companies such as Volkswagen Group, News UK and TfL and also came Highly Commended in the Best Single Campaign category for our Sing Into Christmas competition, eventually won by postman Petro Wychrij.
‘This is fantastic recognition for the whole company,’ said Courier editor, Paul Smith. ‘It demonstrates the ongoing importance of Courier in helping to inform, engage and inspire our colleagues as they do their brilliant work every day.
‘The success of Courier is down to the contributions of our people. It’s their stories, their views and their brilliance that keeps the content relevant and entertaining.
‘I’d like to thank everyone who has played their part in our stories over the last 12 months and look forward to seeing more of our brilliant colleagues feature in upcoming issues.’
Your September Courier is out now but Paul and his colleagues in our internal communications team are busy planning the future of the long-running monthly newspaper.
‘We’re constantly evolving Courier to ensure it matches the strategy of the business and meets the needs of the audience. A lot of work is going on to ensure we stay as relevant as possible to our people. There’ll be more news on our future plans soon.’
