Keeping our yorks moving

Preparing for Peak

Ensuring that we have the maximum amount of yorks available in our network over the Peak period is critical to keeping the mail moving.

Sadly, a high number of York containers are being taken out of service and moved to regional or national repair sites due to broken straps. This extends the york repatriation cycle.

This can be avoided by replacing the straps simply and easily on site.

How to deal with yorks with strap damage on site - overview

York Containers with strap damage should be identified on site, and where there is an opportunity to replace the strap, this should also be done on site.

  • Yorks with broken straps should not be forwarded by mail centres, RDCs/parcel hubs for repair
  • All mail centres, RDCs/parcel hubs should replace damaged york straps on site
  • Safe Working Instruction (SWI), training videos and all documentation are available by contacting the asset fulfilment team
  • Repair straps are available to be ordered and should be used to replace the damaged section on site - supplies can be ordered through the asset fulfilment team at Asset.Fulfilment@royalmail.com
