Egg-squisite praise

NHS staff thank colleagues in Doncaster and Sheffield for their Easter treats

Colleagues at Doncaster mail processing unit (MPU) showed their appreciation for their local NHS workers by donating a cracking collection of Easter eggs.

Doncaster MPU manager Kevin Reynolds and support manager Tony Lumley presented the eggs to NHS staff, much to their delight.

‘The team have been raising money to show their appreciation for the NHS and the incredible job they’re doing throughout the coronavirus outbreak,’ said Kevin. ‘The funds were then used to say thanks and purchase the eggs, which Tony and I presented to locality manager, George Mason from Doncaster NHS Ambulance Trust. He and his colleagues were really appreciative.’

Speaking in praise of the team in the Doncaster caller’s office, Tony said: ‘I would like to mention the caller’s office staff led by workplace coach, Mark Sayles (WPC). They’ve been doing a fantastic job in extremely difficult circumstances.

‘I’m sure it’s the same in every unit, but I feel they need proper recognition from the business. It’s been a brilliant team effort and Mark needs a specific mention as he leads by example. I have spoken to a few customers who have nothing but praise for the team at Doncaster MPU, all of whom continue to remain positive and cheerful in these difficult times.’

Last month, 14 special colleagues at Doncaster MPU were congratulated for going an amazing 11 months without a single customer complaint.

Operations manager, Adam Knight, said at the time: ‘This is quite an achievement, especially at a big site like Doncaster.

‘The team have been working really hard on processes and best practice to drive down complaints. When Tony Lumley told me about this, I wanted to do a proper thank you.

‘With a million things going on, it’s often easy not to find the time to recognise the top performance we see daily from our people. But it’s really important - we all like to be valued.’

Colleagues at Doncaster MPU weren’t the only ones who donated eggs to the deserving. After the current restrictions meant colleagues at HR Services couldn’t donate some Easter treats to a local children’s charity, they instead bought no less than 150 Easter eggs and gave them to the laboratory team at Chesterfield Hospital, community teams at North Derbyshire NHS Trust, a Sheffield food bank and a refuge for women and children. They said they would ensure the original charity received their promised chocolate as soon as it was able to be distributed.
