‘Exceptionally proud’

Congratulations to the team at Swindon Mail Centre, winners of the CEO and COO Award for ‘Process / Other Unit of the Quarter’ for Q1.
The new quarterly awards scheme, which is sponsored by Group CEO Rico Back and chief operating and finance officer Stuart Simpson, is based on the units that score most highly across four key areas of performance measurement: safety, First Class quality, cost and productivity.
At the end of the year, we'll be presenting awards to the overall ‘units of the year,’ recognising the best performing units nationally. Winners will receive money to spend at their unit.
Central service delivery director Geoff Braden, addressed the team to recognise their fantastic achievement and organised the delivery of more than 500 doughnuts for colleagues across all three shifts, including weekend workers.
‘It’s a great privilege that Swindon Mail Centre has been recognised in this way,’ said Geoff. ‘There has been incredible progress in the plant over the last 12 months and it’s great to see real engagement with the team there.
‘Hopefully, Swindon can set a benchmark for how we can run our operation, keep our people safe, be as efficient as we can and deliver great quality to our customers. I’d like to thank the entire team in Swindon for doing such a great job.’
Swindon plant manager, Dan Williams, said: ‘I’m delighted that Swindon Mail Centre has been awarded the CEO and COO Award for best performing plant nationally.
‘I feel very lucky to be working with such a focused and experienced management team, who have applied CILA learning to evolve the operational floor and create better working methods and flow.
‘Our frontline teams have been involved in their work area method changes and their buy-in has created the ownership to deliver some outstanding results this year.
‘This award is validation of the whole plant’s positive can-do attitude, from the senior team to the frontline; we have a team of which I’m exceptionally proud to be a part of.’
