Getting to know the newest member of the RMtv team

It’s been a busy start to life as part of the RMtv team for new presenter Bryony Billson.

Interviews with some of our senior leaders, including Simon Barker and Ricky McAulay, on delivery with Andy Quinnell in Cricklewood and checking out Home Counties North Mail Centre’s second PSM…  and if you haven’t seen her on RMtv yet, check out the @myroyalmailuk Instagram and Twitter pages for plenty of behind-the-scenes clips.

To find out more about Bryony, we asked her to tell us about herself in 10 objects…

RMtv microphone

I’m a full-time presenter, having switched from teaching a couple of years ago. I’m really excited to be RMtv’s presenter because I can combine my love of chatting with my love of posties!

Wellies

I grew up on a farm, so while you might spot me in a pair of heels presenting on RMTV, wellies are my shoe of choice every time. I even wore them on my wedding day!

White flower

My name, Bryony, is also a wild woodland flower – although as my two older brothers enjoyed telling me for many years, it’s also a ‘class B noxious weed’ that can be fatal to small animals (and people that are mean to me). So beware!

Passport

While I love living in the UK, one of my passions is to travel and I’ve been lucky enough to go to some incredible places. My favourite places are Papua New Guinea, Nepal and Vietnam. This year, I’m off to Malawi in Africa for some exciting presenting work and Japan in March for a holiday – I’ve heard it’s amazing and unlike anywhere else in the world. I can’t wait.

Coffee

I am a self-confessed coffee addict and presented a documentary on it in Colombia in 2018. The only thing I love more than drinking it is talking about it!

Swim goggles

Up until a year ago I couldn’t swim. Not that clever at 30 years old when I like doing water sports, such as surfing. But, I took lessons, joined a swimming club and did my first 2km open water swim last year. Now I’ve somehow signed up to a 10km in 2020 - the swimming equivalent of a marathon.

Cats and dogs

It doesn’t take me long to start telling people stories about my ginger cat Vinnie (@vinnietheadventurecat on Instagram) or my Springer Spaniel puppy Juno, both of whom are well known to our postman, Sam. I’ve always loved having pets, we even had two pet pigs called Snuffles and Truffles when I was younger.

VW van

My red campervan Ruby. I love taking her to festivals and on trips around the UK. She has everything you need - from a fridge to keep the drinks chilled to a pop-up roof with a comfy bed to sleep in. I guess all that she’s missing for this job is a Royal Mail logo on the side!

Environment

I’m really passionate about nature so I do try to make lifestyle choices that help the environment. I only use vegan make up, I became a vegetarian a few years ago and I try and be as consumer conscious as possible, so I’m extra pleased to see Royal Mail moving with the times and using their new green vans.
