A huge thank you

Macmillan Cancer Support thanks colleagues who so generously donate through Payroll Giving

Every month, many colleagues very generously donate to Macmillan Cancer Support through Payroll Giving. We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you!

Sadly, as many as one in two of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. Being told ‘you have cancer’ can obviously turn your entire world upside down.

At Macmillan they understand that everyone’s experience of cancer is unique. It is their ambition to be there for everyone right from the moment they are diagnosed.

We want to ensure that everyone living with cancer has access to personalised support that is right for them, in order that they can live life as fully as they can. Whether that’s having the chance to talk face to face with a Macmillan nurse, knowing they can pop into their local Macmillan centre to pick up trusted information, or knowing that they can pick up the phone and chat with someone about their concerns.

This is a huge task. There is so much we need to do to achieve this ambition – but the donations given by colleagues are helping to make this possible.

When Dave was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he had the support of his family but he still felt alone at times.

Dave’s Macmillan nurse, Gill, was a great support. ‘She’s always been there for me, helping me through the most difficult period of my life,’ he said.

£28 pays for a Macmillan nurse for one hour – a nurse, like Gill, who will help signpost people like Dave and his family to the wide range of support Macmillan can offer that is right for them.
