When you give to BHF through Payroll Giving or Pennies from Pay these funds will be used for the Community Hearts programme, which aims to deliver CPR training to 1 million young people, community defibrillators and accessible heart health information for the nation.

Donating to charities tax-free directly through your salary, Payroll Giving, is the most tax-efficient way to give.

Payroll Giving donations are taken from pay after National Insurance but before tax. A donation of £5 a month would actually cost an employee £4 from their take-home pay (if they  pay 20% tax) or £3 (if they pay 40% tax).

Charities big and small depend on the regular income that Payroll Giving provides as it allows them to plan their work including research, building projects, and giving practical help to those vulnerable and in need.

Donating your pay

There are two ways you can support at Royal Mail.

1. Payroll Giving- Choose an amount to donate to your charity of choice*

2. Pennies from Pay- Your weekly or monthly pay is rounded down to the nearest £1 and the spare pennies are donated to our National Charity Partner (Currently British Heart Foundation)

*If you are currently donating to our 'Charity of the Year'- ie: Giving to whoever the National Charity Partner is, this is currently British Heart Foundation from 2022-2026.
