We Are Royal Mail

Jazmin Cainey is a new recruit at Royal Mail, having joined the team at King’s Lynn delivery office three months ago. She’s a postwoman, who is responsible for Later Acceptances Times (LAT) parcels specifically.
It’s an important role, and enables e-retailers to offer their customers next-day delivery. ‘It’s great for our customers,’ said Jazmin. ‘If they enter a parcel into the system before 1.30am, we can deliver it the next day.’
Bloom & Wild was Royal Mail’s first LAT customer and Jazmin said that the number of parcels she handles each day has been increasing as more customers come on board. Jazmin starts at 2.30pm and, once she has delivered her LAT parcels, she spends the rest of her shift doing indoor work.
Although she’s fairly new, Jazmin feels confident in her role, and attributes this to the training she has had. ‘I had a really nice workplace coach when I first started,’ she said. ‘I was with him for four weeks on my delivery round, so that helped a lot.’
Like any Royal Mail colleague, Jazmin understands the value of teamwork – and how important it is to the company.
‘It’s incredibly important – we all rely on one another,’ she said. ‘Having a good relationship with your team makes all the difference.’
For Jazmin, teamwork depends on two important factors: communication and morale. ‘It gets busy here, so of course you need to be able to communicate,’ she said. ‘I also think morale makes a huge difference – being able to have a laugh. I'm an upbeat person so I'd like to think I'm the happy side of things and quite a hard worker.’
This will be Jazmin’s first Christmas at Royal Mail. ‘Everyone says it's really, really busy, so we’ll have to see what happens,’ she said.
