VE Day 2025

Honouring the past and present

As we commemorate the 80-year anniversary of VE Day, we ask that you join us in a two-minute silence at 12pm today, Thursday 8 May.

In the lead up to this monumental occasion we have been marking it with our customers through our Valour and Victory Special Stamps and dedicated postmark.

We’re also supporting VE Mail, a letter-writing initiative connecting schoolchildren with Second World War veterans. In partnership with Together Coalition - an organisation aiming to build kinder, closer and more connected communities - has arranged for the schoolchildren to receive personal letters from veterans who share their personal experiences of the war and their reflections on victory. The students then write returning letters expressing their thoughts and gratitude of the sacrifices made 80 years age – creating a unique opportunity to connect generations and encourage children to engage with the past.

In the Spring Courier, we delved into posties of the past who served our nation on the frontline on both home and international soil. Click here to read more.

‘Behind every victory of a nation, there are countless unsung heroes whose courage and sacrifice shaped the future of the world. On VE Day, we remember not only the leaders and generals, but the silent warriors whose contributions echo through history’ said Chief Executive Officer, Emma Gilthorpe.

While we honour the past, we also support the present and offer a space for our military community with our Employee Resource Group, Milnet – click here to get involved.
