Feel-good Friday

We want to say a huge congratulations to all colleagues who took part in the London marathon. Whether you were chasing a personal best, running for a cause close to your heart or simply embracing the challenge – well done and we hope you are wearing your medals with immense pride!
We heard from Kim Keady, Risk Assurance Manager, who ran for our charity partner British Heart Foundation on how she found the day:
“An absolutely incredible day out, full of positivity and inspiring feats! Being part of the BHF was a wonderful experience – the cheer stations and seeing the other BHF runners was a real lift. Also the whatsapp group with the BHF was really motiving, getting to hear everyone’s incredible stories was brilliant.”
Josh Mewes, Senior Operations Manager, ran for Alzeimer’s society in memory of his Grandmother and Grandfather. “It’s important to me to support families who are going through the same things that I’ve seen during my grandparents’ illnesses.”
Southend-on-Sea Delivery Office got involved in the action, with postie Martin Mead, completing the race in a fantastic 4h 23m raising money for Sarcoma the bone and soft tissue cancer charity. Plus, postie Dave Pennington completing in 2h 57.
David Stancombe, Postie from Southport DO, was interviewed by the BBC in the lead up to the event, to read his full interview, click here. David was running for Elsie’s Story, the charity he and his wife set up in memory of their beautiful daughter Elsie Dot, who tragically died in the Southport attack last year.
Congratulations once again to all our Royal Mail colleagues who took part, what an achievement!
