Celebrating heroes

Our Valour and Victory Special Stamps issued to mark the 80-year anniversary of VE Day honour the courage and dedication of individuals whose actions saved lives, changed history and shaped Britain’s war effort.

The stamps were unveiled at the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. Guests included family members of all the individuals featured on the stamps and began with welcome speeches from David Gold, Emma Gilthorpe, and Ginny Lewis Jones, daughter of Dame Vera Lynn.

The gathering was a heartfelt tribute that brought together families whose loved ones made extraordinary contributions during the war. The families shared stories that had been passed down through generations—tales of courage, resilience, and sacrifice.

It was a privilege to host an event that honoured those featured on the stamps and the families and loved ones who carry their legacies.
