Valentine's success

In the days and weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, we played a pivotal role with Moonpig in delivering love to customers across the UK.

During this time, we welcomed a staggering 693,005 items into our network and delivered each one to our customers in time for the special day. While this was no easy feat, the collaboration between the teams was nothing short of a success:

  • 10,201 balloons with a 98.06 per cent Quality of Service
  • 286,778 gifts with a 97.98 per cent QoS
  • 396,026 cards of which 277,556 were Tracked 24 which reached 95.66 per cent QoS

Our regional teams played an essential role in this effort - both Birmingham and, more recently, Sheffield Mail Centre worked tirelessly to maintain close communication with Moonpig. The collaborative effort kept all the teams aligned, sharing real-time updates on work-flows, timings, and updated of the sorting process.

Another valuable player in the collaboration was the team at Midlands Super Hub, whose dedication made sure that Moonpig parcels were properly sorted and that the cards were cross-docked on time to maintain smooth dispatch across the country.

‘Moonpig is one of Royal Mail’s top 20 Tracked customers by volume; 100 per cent of the volume despatched ifs T24 and with a mixture of balloons, gifts and cards being sent; ensuring success for the various product profiles is critical. This was great to see and gives confidence for the even larger volumes for Mothering Sunday volumes at the end of March’ said Wendy Thomas, Operational Commercial Solutions Manager.
