The art of armouries

Latest Special Stamps revealed

Next up in the series of Special Stamps is a celebration of the Royal Armouries - the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour – and one of the foremost institutions of its kind in the world.

Eight stamps in the main set showcase extraordinary examples of armour made between 1520 and 1686 which were owned by monarchs, featuring stunning decoration and remarkable engineering.

A further four stamps, presented in a miniature sheet, show further treasures from the collection.

‘These stamps show magnificent examples of craftsmanship, engineering and high fashion, proving that for royal warriors of the past, dressing to impress was as important on the battlefield as anywhere else. We are grateful to the Royal Armouries for allowing us to share just a few examples from their collection.’ said David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy.

The stamps, along with collectible products, are available to pre-order from today, Thursday 23 January online and by telephone on 03457 641 641.

These stamps are available for general purchase from Thursday 30 January.
