Heidi and Janet

‘I believe we are traditional and a lot of people still see that.’
The words of Janet Gossling, one of the stars of our We Are Christmas 2024 campaign feature film, when discussing Royal Mail at Christmas.
Alongside her colleague from Nottingham Mail Centre, Heidi Bolger, Janet was invited to take part in the film, which sees colleagues dancing along to Elton John’s chart-topping Step into Christmas, after being nominated, thanks to the festive fun they brought to Workplace during last year’s Peak.
The We Are Christmas film is being used to help inspire our people to make it the best Peak yet for our customers.
Janet, a postie, said of her role in the film: ‘I’d never done anything like this before so I just simply thought it would be a great opportunity to get involved.
‘The experience was absolutely amazing. I met some wonderful people and the atmosphere was fantastic, everyone was in high spirits and came together.’
Her ‘partner in crime’, Heidi, added: ‘Our managers asked us if we would like to take part, as we did a Christmas video last year in our work place.
‘It was a wonderful experience and I met so many new, lovely, people, I think I have made friends for life.’
In Nottingham, Janet and Heidi are now busy in the thick of Peak, playing their part in our pipeline to deliver Christmas for our customers.
And, while much fun was had in making our feature film, there was a significance to the messages portrayed within it, for our Nottingham duo.
‘Royal Mail at Christmas, I think means a lot to people,’ said Janet. ‘Regardless of all the other competitors out there, I believe we are traditional and a lot of people still see that. From sending cards and presents to receiving them – or seeing the postie and just having a general chat if they are lonely.’
Heidi, whose Christmas wish is for precious time with her mother who has early on-set dementia and Alzheimer’s, adds: ‘I think we play an important role, especially at Christmas time, for everyone. To sending someone a Christmas card to just seeing a friendly face, just being there and saying hello.’
