Christmas star - Martyn

Christmas star – word from the wise
An impressive 38 Royal Mail Christmas’ garnered Automation Engineer, Martyn Green from Plymouth Mail Centre a Christmas star nomination.
Upon seeing our call out for Christmas stars, Benjamin Koshti-Symons, an Automation Maintenance Technician, who joined the business earlier this year, immediately thought of his teammate Martyn.
‘Training and mentoring are key factors in my personal development and career progression. Martyn has not only made me feel welcome, but shares his knowledge and experience on a daily basis with the whole team’ said Ben.
Martyn was taken aback by Ben’s nomination and humbled to think he’d taken the time to put Martyn forward.
When asked why Martyn is proactive with supporting his team, he responded: ‘I believe it is hugely important to treat everyone equally and to be respectful of everyone within the workplace. Treat others how you’d like to be treated and help others be the best version of themselves.’
Engineering is no easy feat and there are occasions when elements of the role require extra explanation due to the complexity of the matter at hand – this is where Martyn steps in, with no hesitation, transferring that knowledge from peer to peer.
This area of the business can be intricate and high-pressure but Martyn only ups the anti when it comes to Peak.
‘It’s all about lifting each other’s spirits and moral at the busiest time, whilst sharing in the stresses and successes - keeping all the sorting equipment operationally ready at all times. If we can do all this and still make each other laugh and smile, then that’s a great result in my book!’ said Martyn.
