Paul Ablin - new CFO

Chief Executive Officer, Emma Gilthorpe, writes:

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Ablin as Royal Mail Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Paul is currently Director of Capital Allocation at Virgin Media O2. It will be a few months before he arrives in Spring 2025, but I wanted to let you all know as soon as possible. 

Over more than 20 years Paul has held CFO positions and senior financial roles in companies including easyJet, KPMG, Marks and Spencer, Bulb Energy, SABMiller and Linklaters. As a result, he brings extensive experience of working with large, complex companies at all different stages of their transformation, and he has led a wide range of major initiatives to drive growth and cost competitiveness.  

During his 11 years at easyJet he also took on the role of Chief Operating Officer of easyJet Holidays. This has given Paul broad experience of running operations and programme delivery for a major airline - including during COVID which brought unprecedented challenge – and a fresh perspective on the role finance can play in supporting business success. I am confident Paul’s background will stand us in good stead as we all work together to return Royal Mail to profitable growth.
