With November upon us that means we’re not far from December… so does this start the Christmas countdown? At Royal Mail, everyone knows Peak planning begins as soon as the previous one ends – but now  we’re physically and figuratively getting the wheels in motion to prepare us for what we hope will be our most successful Christmas yet.

We’re introducing extra deliveries up to 8pm to meet the increased demand and the growing number of next day requirements. We’ll also see an increase in processing on Sundays to manage the shopping surge that happens on weekends.

If you’re sending something yourself this Christmas, be sure to get your goods gone by the last recommended posting dates:

  • Wednesday 18 December: Second Class and Second Class Signed For
  • Friday 20 December: Firstt Class, First Class Signed For and Royal Mail Tracked 48
  • Saturday 21 December: Royal Mail Tracked 24
  • Monday 23 December: Special Delivery Guaranteed

‘Every year we pull out all the stops to deliver Christmas for our customers,’ said Chief Commercial Officer, Nick Landon. ‘We will have an additional 16,000 seasonal workers and almost 4,000 new vans, trucks and trailers added to the fleet in time for Christmas. It’s our busiest time of year and we plan all-year round to help ensure we deliver the best possible service for UK consumers and businesses.’
