Managing Performance

We are pleased to introduce our new Managing Performance Procedure, designed to better support and develop all employees. Here’s what you need to know about the changes and how they benefit you:
Why are we changing?
As part of the Business Recovery, Transformation and Growth (BRTG) agreement, we have developed a new approach to managing performance. This new procedure emphasises consistent performance management and providing support and reasonable time for improvement.
What is changing?
- Consistent Performance Management: The new process replaces the Non-Culpable Inefficiency and Parcelforce Capability procedures, ensuring fair and dignified treatment for all employees (excluding managers and PFSL where Supporting Performance Improvement or PFSL Improvement Performance Procedure continues to apply)
- Early Intervention: We focus on managing performance at an early stage, providing multiple opportunities for improvement before moving to formal stages.
- Support and Training: You will receive appropriate training and support to help you meet role expectations, ensuring you have the resources needed to succeed.
- Fair Treatment: The new procedure ensures performance management is conducted in a consistent and fair manner, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
How does this benefit you?
- Better Support: You will have access to more support and coaching to help you improve and succeed in your role.
- Clear Expectations: You will have a clear understanding of what is expected from you and how you can achieve those standards.
- Fair Process: The new procedure ensures a fair and transparent process, with multiple opportunities for improvement before any formal action is taken.
- Positive Work Environment: By addressing performance issues early and informally, we aim to create a more positive and supportive work environment for everyone.
We are committed to helping each of you perform at your best and achieve your full potential. If you have any questions about the new Managing Performance Procedure, please speak with your line manager in the first instance. Alternatively, you can raise a question on the People App by going to the ‘HR Help’ tile or call the HR team on 0345 6060603.
