Feel-good Friday

Hear from Douglas Faulconbridge, a Hub Operative, about how him and his Parcelforce colleagues took on Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) for the Great Big Fundraising Challenge 2024.
On Thursday 5th September 2024, 17 of us took on the challenge to climb Yr Wyddfa to raise funds for The British Heart Foundation.
Most of us had never taken on a feat like this before, not an easy challenge. We left the Hub at Baginton very early (5.00am) and after a short stop for a quick breakfast, we arrived at Llanberis just before 9.00am. We arrived at the start of the Llanberis Path and commenced our slow climb at 9.20am. The terrain was gravel to start with and then changed to large stones and rocks to climb over. The weather was grim – at the half way point everyone togged up with their waterproofs to continue the climb through the clouds/mist/fog.
The great news is that everyone made it to the Summit – the most fantastic achievement. Unfortunately there was little or no visibility so we couldn’t see the spectacular views that would have been on offer on a clear day, but this didn’t dampen spirits as we all turned to start the walk back.
We all made it back by 5.00pm and celebrated with a bottle of champagne that had been donated.
The best news is of course, that we have collectively raised over £2000 for such a worthwhile cause – our thanks to everyone who supported us.
