Feel-good Friday

Our Midlands Super Hub – the largest automated operational site at Royal Mail – has celebrated its first year in operation.

At a ceremony to mark the progress of its first year, Alistair Cochrane, Chief Operating Officer and other senior leaders met with some of the frontline team to thank them and recognise their achievements.

In the last 12 months, did you know?

  • Midlands Super Hub has despatched 6.6 million yorks
  • On 10 July Midlands Super Hub hit a record 24 hours shift throughput of 5.47 million items.

OPGs Naheed Farooq and Indurani Balasubramanian worked with a small frontline team to make everyone feel very welcome.

This team organised raffles, party balloons, decorations and worked tirelessly to have all in place ready for the day.

Drinks, donuts, cakes, samosas and snacks for shift colleagues were really well received by all.

The star of the show had to be the superb hand crafted and decorated cake (pictured) by Mrs Zainab Mordhan, wife of Hashim Mordhan, at their own expense, who is a weekend shift Tracked Marshall in the Hub. One onlooker remarked: ‘Not sure if they are taking any orders but it was delicious!’

The brilliant efforts of everyone are really appreciated and thanks also go to OPGs Manish Panchal, Bhaskar Barot, Muhammad Saigal, Winchel Meader, Nilza Tavares and Hashim and Zainab Mordhan, who supported the day.

Hear from colleagues, customers and senior leaders and get the latest footage of this state-of-the-art venue and attached Academy in next week’s RMtv.
