We Deliver Democracy

Proud to carry ballot packs and postal votes

With the General Election now just two weeks away, we have started to see postal ballot packs in our network.

It is important that we deliver these items swiftly and accurately. Once they have been delivered, we will start to see postal votes being returned to Local Authorities in the distinctive postal envelopes marked with a ‘purple flash’.

Royal Mail plays a crucial role in delivering the democractic process.

As a business, we are in a unique and privileged position to be able to deliver historic and important events such as the General Election.

There are a number of areas in this election where every last vote could make a difference to the result –  the safe and timely delivery of every single item of election material really does make a difference.

No matter what part of the network you work in, we all have a part to play and should ensure that:

  • We deliver to the highest possible standard, every day, without exception
  • All poll cards and postal ballot packs are delivered to electors
  • Postal votes are returned back to Local Authorities in a timely way
  • Every Local Authority gets a daily delivery, at the agreed time (please note that this is important as Local Authority staff will be on standby to process incoming votes - we must not let them down)
  • If a Local Authority has asked for a presorted delivery using different response licence this is maintained
  • Delivery teams put checks in place so that Local Authorities receive the correct postal vote returns – making sure they flip-check postal vote returns before they leave the delivery office so that there are no missorts on arrival
  • Any added value services are planned into delivery and delivered every day that they are requested.
