Rowland Hill Fund Day

Join in with this year’s Create and Donate theme and help your own people as part of Rowland Hill Fund Day.
On Wednesday 19 June, the Fund is spreading awareness and encouraging fundraising – how will you help?
The Rowland Hill Fund (RHF) is a benevolent charity that awards financial grants to postal people - past and present - in their time of need, supporting around 300 people a year. However, they rely on the support of Royal Mail colleagues to fundraise.
Shan Lawrence is a Communications Manager for RHF and says of the Day: ‘The Rowland Hill Fund Day this year celebrates how creative we can be. We see this is the innovative and fun ways our ambassadors and supporters encourage fundraising and spread the word to their colleagues.
‘How, I hear you say? Jane Shilton, Head of Service Introduction in the IT team, recently offered us 48 knitted Easter chicks and 48 Cadbury’s Cream Eggs! Yes, they were all used for fundraising, even though it was very tempting to try one.’
Some ideas to get involved with Create and Donate include:
- Run a Lego building competition
- Hold a cake bake
- A collective knit and crochet.
Shan says: ‘I am sure you can be very creative and may find the hidden skills in some of your friends and colleagues.’
Everything the Fund does is supporting our people in their need. Take a look at this film, as an example. It features Arnold, son of Mark Tague, a postie in Bury, who the RHF has supported since his first trike when he was four. He’s now a teenager and been supported with a grant towards his third wheelchair.
‘This brings us such satisfaction and joy and we know that Mark and the family are so grateful,’ says Shan. ‘This is all down to your support.’
