Our people are what make Royal Mail special. From our posties to our cleaners, from our sales teams to our engineers, drivers to call centre colleagues and everyone in between. A collective heartbeat that keeps the nation's mail moving.

Everyone can play their part and make a difference to our customers, our communities, and each other, and we want to recognise those that do it best. 

That's why we’re introducing the Heart of Royal Mail Awards.

There are four core awards each quarter, peer-nominated and open to all:

  • First Class Service awardSo many of our people provide service that is First Class.  Whether that’s serving customers directly or indirectly, or by playing their own unique part in helping Royal Mail deliver for the UK.  Taking ownership of the service they provide to others and doing it with passion and pride. This is what makes us stand out from the competition. These are our colleagues who are First Class.
  • Game Changer award: At over 500 years old, our company has undergone constant change to keep growing and evolving to best serve our customers.  As we write our next chapter, it’s the people who get involved, share new ideas, and champion positive change that are driving our progress and success.  These are our Game Changers.
  • Outstanding Contribution award: There are those in our business who just shine. They are the role models we look up to. They are brilliant at what they do, live our values and bring their best every day.  These are our Outstanding Contributors.
  • Community Hero award: Our people have a lot of heart.  This is more than a day job for many and making that extra bit of difference is what makes them tick.  Whether that is fundraising for a good cause, volunteering, stepping up in times of need, or with simple acts of kindness.  These are our Community Heroes. 

Nominations can be made 24/7 via our dedicated Awards Hub available on myroyalmail.com and the People App.

 

How will the winners be picked? 

Each quarter, shortlisted nominees will be selected by a rotating judging panel of senior leaders from across the organisation.  

The first round of winners will be announced in September, with the deadline for first-quarter nominations being 31 August.

How will our winners be celebrated? 

In September, Senior Leaders will host local presentations for each award winner to celebrate their success alongside their teammates and colleagues. They will receive a personalised Heart of Royal Mail trophy, £250 in Shine points (to redeem against a gift or voucher of their choice) and a swag bag of Heart of Royal Mail goodies.

All our award winners throughout the year will also be invited, with a guest, to our first annual Heart of Royal Mail Awards event next Spring.

 

How can I take part?

We want this to be a celebration across all roles, locations and parts of the business, and we can only do that if you get involved.

  • If you have a member of your team who embodies one of the categories above, nominate them. Post your nominees on Workplace with #IveNominated to encourage others to take part.
  • Make a point of celebrating any nominees or winners you have in your team to show your pride in their work. Share your celebrations on Workplace with #HeartofRoyalMailAwards so we can all join in with the celebration.
