Pipeline depends on us

Watch as the National Workplan prepares for go live.

As a result of the changes to the network window, a new National Workplan will be going live on Monday 17 June.

The new National Workplan is the framework that brings together each part of the operational pipeline to enable us to deliver both quality of service for our customers consistently and reliably, and growth in parcels.

Each operational unit will have its own local workplan, which when delivered, enables the National Workplan to be a success. Everyone on every shift in every work area has a key part to play.

On 17 June the new National Workplan and local workplans will go live and we will see the result of all the hard work and enormous effort from across the operation.

In Preston, in practice this has meant the mail centre has to achieve a 30-minute earlier dispatch time, something they started working on back in October last year. With the knock-on effect this has, the team has been working together to get this right. And it’s going well, as this film shows.

As Late Shift Manager, Norval Addison says: ‘If you think about entering a race, you have to prepare, practice and train for that race. It’s really important to know that every single mail centre achieves this by 17 June – the pipeline is depending on us.’

Chief Operating Officer, Alistair Cochrane, said: ‘As I have said before, this is undoubtedly the largest operational change in over 20 years in Royal Mail. Please be under no illusion of the huge Part We All Play in making it a success.

‘As I have been going around the operation, I can see the business getting ready and I am delighted to see the results of all of your hard work coming together.’
