Sunday deliveries

The importance of Sunday deliveries

We often see special occasions roll around on a Sunday, including Easter Sunday coming up this weekend. Our customers in both business and the community are expecting those all-important deliveries on time to make for a special day.

There is expected to be 36 per cent more items entering the system compared to a normal Sunday with c300k items to deliver on the day. This is approximately 75,000 less than we delivered on Mother’s Day.

Last year, over the two weeks of Easter 18.7 million Tracked Parcels were processed through our system and we are expecting a 46% increase to approx. 27.2 million this year.

Be prepared for the increased size of all types of parcels, especially flowers, gifts, and cards as we deliver a significant number of orders from these customers. Remember whilst Moonpig will be sending parcels they will also be sending a number of letter sized T24 items so don’t let these fall into the wrong stream.

Keeping focused on Quality of Service is just as important at this key time particularly because next week is the start of the new financial year and it’s vital to get off to a good start with great performance. Remember to continue with doorstep procedures and make sure they are fully compliant, in particularly safe place, photo on delivery and age verification where required – we want to make sure customers get their gifts and cards in perfect condition.

The return after the Easter break is always busy across our operation, so please be prepared for significant increases next week and look out for those around you and offer support to our new starters who may be experiencing their first surge in mail.

Finally, a reminder that the clocks go forward by one hour at 1am, Sunday 30 March as we change to British Summer Time.
