Feel good Friday

Andrew Hughes and Gary Quinney are frontline operatives at our Parcelforce North West Processing Centre (NWPC) and have worked in our business for 30 and 25 years respectively.
Over the last five years, the pair have committed their own precious time and resources, including vehicles and fuel, to source, buy and replenish stock in the NWPC "tuck shop", even coming in on their days off to ensure the shop is stocked. They took over from its founder, Ste Feeney, when he retired.
The tuck shop not only lifts the spirits and staves off hunger for the colleagues at the processing centre, it has also been a great source of fundraising over the years – and blown us away in terms of the amount raised.
In December and January this year they donated £2,000 to worthy causes, and over the last eight years have donated an amazing £28,000 to charities in their local community.
Charities they’ve supported include; help to build homelessness shelters, food banks, Cancer Research UK, stray dogs, muscular dystrophy, MIND (Mental health), Andy’s Man Club, lifeboats, air ambulance, our very own Rowland Hill Fund and a charity called Make a Wish, which helps raise money for children with a terminal illness.
Mo Davidson, Processing Manager, and the rest of the leadership team at NWPC, paid tribute to Andrew and Gary’s dedication, saying: ‘They undertake so much amazing unseen work and have raised an incredible amount of money. They have certainly helped to put NWPC on our community map. We are all proud to have helped people in our community through the tuck shop and give special thanks to Andrew and Gary.’
