Energy Saving Week

Energy Saving Week 17-23 January 2024 – your steps to zero
We’re making positive steps towards Net Zero, but there’s always more we can do as a collective.
9% of our emissions are associated with our properties
- We have reduced energy use centrally by tuning equipment at our largest sites.
- Our energy contract is with a 100% renewable electricity supplier.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
-
Our customers want to work with suppliers, like Royal Mail, who are leading the way in reducing their carbon emissions.
-
Reducing our impact on the environment is the right thing to do.
-
Royal Mail has committed to achieving Net-Zero by 2040
WHAT ACTION CAN WE TAKE?
-
Are there small things you and your team can do to help reduce energy in office?
-
Lots of people taking small actions, everyday provides a massive help.
For example,
-
Are there exterior doors and windows that are left open, letting out heat? Could you put up a reminder, somewhere visible, to close the doors?
-
Are there times when the heating is on, but the office is hardly used, perhaps in the afternoons or Sundays. Are there areas of the office that are heated but not used, such as disused admin areas. Are there parts of the office that are warmer than they should be? To change heating controls please email the national service centre at ‘monitor@royalmailpfs.com’ referencing ‘Energy’.
-
Are lights being left on when the office is empty? Could someone in the office take responsibility for this? Who is the last person to leave? Encourage people to turning off lights when we leave a room?
-
Is the RMtv screen on when people are not in the office? The screens power down automatically at set times, but do we think it’s on at the right times? If it’s on when the office is empty - you can contact 0345 608 2555, option 2 and then option 4 and ask to amend the POWER ON times.
-
Can your team think of more ways to save energy in your location?
