Yorks on the move

The team at South Midlands Mail Centre have been preparing for the entire peak period and now the time is upon us, the team is switched on and ready to deliver Christmas.
The primary task for the day is to keep the Mail Centre nice and clean.
‘All excess yorks are to be either repatriated or stored in their designated areas to promote the 5s and safety culture across the plant’ said Katarzyna Koczela, Early Shift Manager.
The team created a schedule of at least two repatriation services to take place every morning as they know it is crucial for the business to keep feeding the Hub with equipment, but also, our pipeline.
‘We are using internal channels and pipeline groups to shout out if any of us has excess equipment or is struggling. By working together with local distribution teams we can provide smooth service and ensure every unit has only the equipment they need.’
Every day, Katarzyna and their team are repatriating around 800 yorks back to Midlands Super Hub with hundreds of empty grey bags heading back to the local pipeline team – this way the mail can continue to be collected from our customers through the whole festive period and protect the service we provide.
‘Every team, even the smallest, plays their vital part in this success - get your pipeline involved, work with your local distribution as in the end WE are Christmas!’
