Peak success

When the team at Truro Mail Centre was faced with a road closure into their unit, processing and distribution colleagues had to act fast to ensure the mail could get through.
‘After Cornwall Council announced a road closure from 9pm – 2am, we knew this would have a substantial impact, not just on the mail centre but deliveries and our long-distance arrivals from South West Distribution Centre (Bristol)’ said Work Area Manager, TJ Guzzinati-Ravetta.
‘We were able to get in touch with the relevant people at Cornwall Council and negotiate access to our site, even if it was with limited access.
‘The team were able to get some of the mail into the unit via additional smaller vehicles and our articulated lorry arrivals due to arrive between 10.45pm – 1.45am were postponed to 2.30am.
‘This put additional pressure on the processing team to not only turn these vehicles around in time for wave one despatch, but to balance and accept the arrivals in a very challenging yard space – but the team availed!
‘It was imperative we found a workable solution to the challenge we were facing. The repercussions were not only on the wider pipeline but also our delivery colleagues and our customers.’
‘The pressure was on but success was delivered!
‘As we head closer towards Christmas it was important to give it our best and adapt to the challenge to demonstrate exactly what it is we do best - delivering excellence for our customers.’
TJ was very proud of how the team banded together when faced with what was - quite literally - a road-blocker.
‘It was a very challenging and rewarding night and I could not be more proud - of not only what the wider team helped to orchestrate and plan, but more importantly of the frontline, who ultimately delivered for our customers.’
