Final push at Parcelforce

The final push at Parcelforce ahead of Christmas

Into the final week of peak and it’s looking good for the Processing teams in Parcelforce. Over a four-week period since 20 November, two million items were processed across the two centres in North West and South East with 100% Quality of Service workplan clearance - quite an achievement!

Andy Steele, Regional Processing Manager says, ‘It’s all down to the planning. Our peak plans were completed during the summer where we reviewed our abilities from previous years and working with our colleagues in Network operations, we aligned our resource solutions to the volume arrival phasing, utilising capacity opportunities.’

Andy goes on to say, ‘The Processing Centres also have a role to play in trailer utilisation by reducing the time to unload and return the much needed trailer resource back to the wider network’.

‘We are supported by our colleagues in PFW Engineering and the local shunting teams, they all play a huge role. Working closely with our flexible resource team and suppliers, we created the opportunity to identify and manage any resource risk by exception. We had a strong foundation to build upon.’

Andy admits that it hasn’t always been plain sailing, he says, ‘In recent weeks we’ve had a few parcel sorter challenges with breakdowns and system issues. The Engineering teams were able to recover the isolated incidents with little to no disruption to our Parcelforce customers.’

‘Our Processing teams are working hard in the final push to ensure it’s a successful Christmas for everyone in Parcelforce.’
