Emails to envelopes

Our non-operational colleagues have been joining the frontline to support operations during our busiest time of year.
Jon Nicholson, UK Sales Director, experienced time away from Teams, emails and meetings.
Amidst the peace without calls and notifications, Jon felt the physical demands of walking between eight and 13 miles each day with a heavy sack of mail and parcels, all during cold weather.
‘Supporting our frontline out in the local community is one thing, doing it for years is not an easy gig,’ said Jon.
‘I do love being out there though, it’s a tough, but great job, and a huge thank you too all our amazing professional posties who do this everyday.’
After Jon’s experience on the frontline, he took to LinkedIn to share his experience from the perspective of an amateur postie and called out things that our customer may not even think about when it comes to receiving their post:
‘If you have a letterbox at the bottom of your door, then I’m afraid we can no longer be friends,’ he jested. ‘Of course, it’s rare that we would put anything through our own letterboxes, but if you do have a door with a letterbox right at the bottom then you must put a new door on your Christmas list immediately. I think it should be in the Government’s manifesto, such is the seriousness of it.
‘It’s lovely to see the Christmas decorations on hundreds of houses, but this seemingly new trend of a massive decorative bow on the front door, which covers up the house number and the letterbox… not helpful. I spent enough time getting lost, without you making it worse by hiding your house number.
‘Thirdly (and more seriously) dogs are really scary. And I say that as a dog lover and dog owner. Dog attacks are a cause of serious injury for our posties, some with life-changing effects. And whilst it might be a cliche that dogs chase after the postman, it is quite intimidating when it happens. You may know that your dog is friendly, but we don’t, especially if we’re new to the area.’
Our non-ops colleagues will be back out in the operation this week for a final push to get Christmas deliveries to our customers before the big day next week!
