Ofcom QofS fine

Today, Ofcom announced a fine of £5.6 million for our 2022-23 Full Year Quality of Service performance. We are very disappointed with our Quality of Service performance in 2022-23 and acknowledge Ofcom’s decision.
Last year was uniquely challenging for Royal Mail. Ofcom has recognised that Quality of Service was materially impacted by the long-running industrial dispute and other factors, including the Stansted runway closure and extreme heat in July. We are pleased that Ofcom has acknowledged that elements outside of Royal Mail’s control had a significant impact on service levels and has adjusted the figures to 82% for First Class and 95.5% for Second Class mail.
Looking forward and delivering mail on time, every day
We know that we now need to work together to consistently improve quality of service and get Royal Mail back to growth.
Every single gift, card and letter is important. By pulling together we can deliver a brilliant Christmas for our customers and restore the quality of service our customers expect from us.
