Leading from the front

Offices across the UK are preparing for our busiest time of year as Black Friday, Cyber Week and Christmas… not forgetting January returns… approach fast.
At Edinburgh East Delivery Office, the team is getting themselves in place to successfully deliver to their postcodes as they expect to receive double the volume of mail.
Customer Operations Manager, Keith Fraser, Operations Performance Leader, Mark Weekes and Sunday Hub Manager, John Ramsay came together to work out how best to meet quality of service for our customers. They soon came up with a hands-on approach to support the team.
‘It would be great for the managers to be proactively involved and getting hands on to help their teams,’ said Keith.
‘Getting involved was an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the challenges our frontline teams face when delivering Sunday Later Acceptance Times and also sharing the benefits, and ease of use of the RON app.’
This approach has received positive feedback from the teams within EH1-17 and has encouraged more volunteers committed to attend during peak.
Keith encourages others across different sites to do the same: ‘be organised, engage with your teams and start to build up a plan that ensures parcel deliveries are in place early morning and PM.’
What positive processes have been put in place at your site to prepare for peak and secure the incentive for you team?
We’re looking for successful teams and individuals going the extra mile for Christmas this year. We know there are lots of amazing stories out there. Please email your news to rmcommunications@royalmail.com.
