Road safety

As we prepare for this year’s peak period, we will start to see more vehicles and more drivers in our operation. Keeping safe whilst out driving is paramount, however we also want to remind people of what to do if they are involved in a road traffic collision (RTC).
Timely and accurate reporting of RTCs is key to saving money, which is why telephone reporting from the scene is important. Wherever it is safe to do so, drivers must contact our Accident Management provider using their PDA, where they will speak to an expert claims handler who will support them with what they need to do at the scene.
Where our driver is deemed at fault the accident management firm will intervene and offer to take over the repair of the third-party vehicle and provide hire vehicles under our own preferred terms.
Timely reporting of collisions saves us on average £2,600 per claim.
This process does not replace the need to submit an ERICA which must be done at the earliest opportunity. This should then be followed by the relevant RTA/C Procedure Agreement to investigate collisions and apply appropriate interventions.
Here is a useful poster providing details of how to use the PDA phone to contact our Accident Management provider. Please print off and display in your office.
