Coffee collections

Royal Mail and Nespresso have joined forces to help increase the uptake in coffee pod recycling utilising our Parcel Collect service.
The low carbon collections will see posties pick-up used capsules from customers’ doorsteps before they move through our pipeline – from delivery office to mail centre and through distribution – and finally to a Veolia recycling centre. This is a great example of using our network to support the circular economy.
The initial trial will lead to full rollout of this service to the entire Podback group – which includes Nespresso, and is a not-for-profit, coffee pod recycling service.
Managers in Delivery, Processing and Distribution have a Worktime Listening & Learning brief to share with colleagues and ensure the smooth introduction of this service. Ask your manager if you are yet to receive yours and – for Delivery colleagues - raise in your weekly Team talk: take five huddle.
Customers will use the Nespresso website to request a Royal Mail doorstep collection via a portal to royalmail.com. They may print their own label or request the postie brings one. The collection item will show on the PDA as a normal doorstep collection and the items can be collected as per our usual process.
More of our business customers are choosing to partner with Royal Mail thanks to our environmental credentials. We have an ambition to reach Net-Zero by 2040.
