The Italian Job

Get behind a team including Royal Mail colleagues as they bid to raise thousands of pounds for Rowland Hill Fund (RHF), our in-house charity.
After the huge success of a three-day cycle across Europe and the UK in July last year, the 19-strong team made up of Royal Mail colleagues plus Royal Mail consultants and partners are getting back on the saddle.
For three days from 6 October, the team will ride 200 miles and climb in excess of 14,000ft over the Tuscan mountains – from Rimini on the east coast to Livorno on the west.

Head of Property Group Legal, Liam Staniland, has helped organise the fundraising challenge. He explains why RHF – which supports postal people facing homelessness, life-changing health challenges or unexpected financial difficulties.
‘The Rowland Hill Fund does incredible work helping postal people and their families at their greatest time of need,’ said Liam. ‘It’s therefore fantastic that we’re able to use something, which we all enjoy doing, to raise funds to support its vital work.’

Last time out, the cyclists incredibly raised more than £30,000 and Shan Lawrence, RHF’s communications manager, is thrilled they are supporting the cause once more.
She said: ‘These cyclists are amazing and obviously love the challenge of, what seems to me, an incredible physical feat!
‘After seeing our Spring Update last year and hearing the story of Georgia Clarke and the support she receives from her postie Dad, Kevin, they were inspired to raise more money for us this year. We know they’ll achieve it and we wish them lots of luck and many ice-cream stops along the way!’
The team will cycle from Rimini to Bagno di Romano via San Marino on day one before heading to Florence on day two and finishing with the Florence to Livorno leg on the final day.
The team consists of riders from Royal Mail, Prologis, Howard Professionals, RLB, Tyco and Mott MacDonald. We wish them well!
