Green Postal Day 2023

Royal Mail is incredibly proud to be part of fifth Green Postal Day 2023.
Today we are marking the fifth Green Postal Day, alongside 22 postal operators worldwide. Today is also Global Zero Emissions Day and postal operators have committed to converting 50% of their overall fleet to alternative fuel vehicles by 2030.
In Royal Mail our overall goal is to be Net Zero by 2040.
Of our overall emissions, 13% are from final mile deliveries. More than 5,000 vehicles across our delivery and collection fleet are electrics, and we’re trialling new innovations for zero and low-emissions deliveries, including drones for remote locations, micro-electric vehicles and converting fuel from diesel to HVO at key sites.
Working collaboratively with overseas operators to drive down emissions is important to Royal Mail as this supports our overall emission profile for international mail, as overseas postal operator emissions account for around 12% of Royal Mail Group’s Scope 3 emissions.
As key players in the transport and logistics sector, postal operators have made significant investments to renew their fleet and progressively add alternative fuel vehicles.
