Feel-good Friday

Leeds postman Simon Dickinson’s collection run changed last month much to the dismay of his number-one fan, 13-year-old Kacper.
When Kacper discovered that his favourite postman was changing his route and would no longer collect from Osmondthorpe Lane, he was distraught, so much so that he wrote Simon a letter thanking him for all his ‘chats and jokes’ and for being ‘a good postie’.
‘This lad was so devastated that Simon was leaving his run that he wrote him the loveliest letter,’ said Nicola Price, Simon’s partner and a fellow postie from North West Super Hub. ‘Kacper was always asking Simon questions about Royal Mail. He even told Simon that he wants to be a postman when he grows up.’
Simon and Nicola, read the letter and were so touched they decided to send Kacper a bag of sweets and some Royal Mail goodies. They also included a card with their contact details, and Kacper’s mum phoned and invited them to visit.
‘Kacper is full of energy and enthusiasm, such a lovely person, and is absolutely obsessed with Royal Mail. He still goes to the postbox at collection time to talk to the new driver and talks to his delivery postie and others from Seacroft Delivery Office, said Nicola.
‘His mum said he talks about Royal Mail all the time. He really wants a delivery bag as he wants to use it for school. It was lovely to meet him and both him and his mum were over the moon that we had been.’
