Great Neighbour

Our Cirencester based postie, Jenny McNeil comical contribution to her local community recently made broadcast news on BBC Radio Gloucestershire as a finalist on their Make a Difference Awards.
Each year, BBC radio celebrates 28 local heroes at special awards ceremonies across the country, shining a light on people going above and beyond in their local communities.
Residents of Cirencester have opened their curtains to a fun surprise every Saturday since 2020 as Jennifer delivers the local post in a different fancy dress costume each week, avoiding repeats other than Easter and Christmas.
‘I do this to make people smile. The whole of Cirencester Delivery Office started dressing up during Covid-19 to encourage a collection for hospital staff and food banks’ said Jenny.
Once the collections ran their course, Jenny wanted to keep the fun going and continued making deliveries in her fancy dress, making it her permanent Saturday uniform.
‘People in the community were saying such great things about the costumes, so I decided to carry on.’
