Central Postal Control has walked away with the top award in the ‘Operations Management’ category at the CILT Awards for Excellence 2020

Royal Mail’s Central Postal Control team has walked away with the winners’ award in the ‘Operations Management’ category at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Awards for Excellence 2020 writes Zoe Walker.

The awards, which took place online on Wednesday 17 March, brought together more than 500 guests, delegates and finalists virtually to celebrate the individuals and organisations that have kept the country moving during the past 12 months.

The Operations Management award is given to a project which endorses innovation or teamwork, shows significant improvement in customer service performance or lead time, has established a market competitive edge and demonstrates its ability to measure the effect of operational improvement techniques for customer satisfaction and / or internal operational efficiency.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Patron, CILT, delivered a special virtual message to the award winners, CILT members and the profession, thanking them for their incredible work in responding to the unprecedented events of the past year.

Dennis Welton, Head of Central Postal Control, said: ‘So proud and privileged to lead the team that won the CILT Awards for Excellence 2020, under the Operations Management section. An amazing team that like all in Royal Mail have done an amazing job, especially in the last 12 months.’

Ricky McAulay, field operations director, added: ’I have always been impressed with the 24/7 service which CPC have provided the business over the last 30 years, but over this last year during Covid-19 they have excelled in their ability to respond to the operational needs of the business – no matter how large or small the ask is.

‘They are a brilliant team and fully deserve the recognition through wining this prestigious award.’
