Malvern community praises delivery workers amid the pandemic

Tributes have been pouring in for colleagues and the work other delivery workers are doing for the Malvern community amid the pandemic, writes Peter Kirby.

Posting on the Facebook community group ‘Malvern Hills Display Board (UK),’ customers have been leaving messages of thanks to the team at Malvern Delivery Office, including:

  • ‘Thank you to all our posties.’
  • ‘Posties do an amazing job.’
  • ‘Everyone that’s working through, thank you all.’
  • ‘We’ve had a first-class postal service in Welland from day one of the pandemic.’
  • ‘Postie Sam Hendry (pictured) is great - WR14.’

Malvern delivery office manager, Mark McGinley, said: ‘The picturesque town of Malvern is quite unique, as it’s largely built on a hillside. This creates a few challenges for our people, our equipment and our customers, but I believe the residents here truly appreciate the kind of lengths we go to with the terrain we’re faced with to ensure that every single household gets the best service we can deliver.

‘The pandemic hit us quite hard during the autumn when we had a spike in cases of colleagues having to self-isolate. Deliveries were understandably reduced until staffing levels returned to normal, but the people of Malvern were really understanding and continue to support us through this difficult period.

‘I have a really good bunch of people here, who are happy to go the extra mile for customers and love putting a smile on people’s faces with fancy-dress opportunities to raise money for charity. The pandemic has not only brought the team even closer together, but the people of Malvern have warmed to what a great service we provide and what great products we have on offer.

‘The pandemic has really shown just how much the public rely on us posties.’

OPG Sam Hendry, added: ‘I’m just a small part of a big hard-working team. But thanks so much!’
