We’re ready…
We have put a huge amount of work in getting ready for this Christmas, which is expected to easily outstrip prior years’ festive peaks.
We’re employing 33,000 additional people, who will work alongside colleagues already busy doing an amazing job as we go into what will be the busiest Peak period we’ve ever had.
More than 300 of these flexible workers we’ve taken on work at a site next to Greenford Mail Centre in west London – the first of more than 10 locations helping us through Peak to start operating.

‘We opened up on 19 October,’ said plant operations lead, Rash Choudhry. ‘We normally open up in November, however, this year, we opened up three weeks in advance due to the high volume of parcels starting to come through.’
‘We’ve bought tens of thousands of additional york containers and hired 7-8,000 additional vehicles for delivery,’ said field operations director, Ricky McAulay. ‘We have literally flexed every part of our network to ensure that this year, we deliver a fantastic Christmas for our customers.
‘It’s the efforts of everyone; managers and frontline colleagues pulling together over the next four to five weeks that will really secure Christmas. It’s that which sets Royal Mail apart from all our other competitors.’
