Transforming in Tyneside
We’re installing four new parcel sort machines, or PSMs, to help us cope with the demands of our increasing parcel volumes.
Tyneside, Medway, Nottingham and Southampton mail centres will welcome the PSMs, with the first to be operational in late spring 2021.
They will be a similar size to the 20 already in our network, which are capable of processing up to 10,000 parcels per hour.

When asked how he felt about the arrival of the new PSM, plant improvement manager Roger Guy said he was both delighted and relieved.
‘As the volume of parcels as well as the dimensions of the parcels themselves keep growing, it has become more and more difficult,’ he said. ‘So, this for me, is the right location.’
OPG Leanne O’Hagan agreed. ‘I think it’s excellent news,’ she said. ‘It’s good news for the company and it’s creating job stability for all of us. It’s just very exciting.’
