Ready to deliver

Extending our Covid-19 test kits service to deliveries

We’re introducing a seven-day delivery service of Covid-19 test kits, direct to UK addresses.

Since April, we’ve been collecting these vital kits and transporting them to labs to help the country’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government has asked us to extend our contract to a delivery service for customers who request a test kit through the NHS app or Government website.

Press play to hear about this new service from field operations director Ricky McAulay, colleagues at Sheffield City Delivery Office and both our unions - CWU and Unite CMA.

The Outbound 7-Day Test Kits Delivery service will see us set up special Sunday delivery hubs whilst our core delivery network will deliver the items Monday to Saturday.

The test kits will be a T24 Tracked product and mostly letterboxable. Where possible, First Time Delivery (FTD) needs to be achieved, while maintaining a quality of service above 98%.

Unless more than one kit is requested, they can be posted through the letterbox. No signature will be required. As they contain unused test kits, there is no safety risk for our colleagues when handling the items.

Ricky said: ‘What we’re doing is essential to the Government’s efforts to fight Covid-19. We’ve been doing excellent work collecting Covid-19 test kits for many months. Now that we’ll be delivering them – seven days a week, where needed – to make sure people quickly get access to testing, is something that should make everyone involved feel very proud.’

We’ll collect the test kits from one of six sites run by Paragon, who are responsible for picking, packaging, and labelling the items, before we relay them back to mail centres for processing the items ready for delivery.

The items will be delivered Monday to Saturday in our core delivery with Sunday hubs providing an additional delivery service ensuring seven-day week compliance for this product.

The test kits must receive a Ready for Deliver scan when they reach our delivery office and must be delivered on the day of receipt. If there is more than one kit, colleagues must adhere to the current guidelines for delivering parcels once knocking on a customer’s door.
