50 down, 20 to go

Congratulations to all our colleagues, who celebrate 40 or 50 years’ service in November

Congratulations to postmen Peter Wilson from Leeds Mail Centre and Michael Hersant from Colchester Delivery Office, who each celebrate 50 glorious years’ service this November.

A presentation was held at Leeds Mail Centre for Peter to mark his milestone and his colleagues gave him a handmade cake and a bottle of whiskey.

‘I have really enjoyed my time with Royal Mail,’ said Peter. ‘I’ve managed to do a bit of everything in my time here to date, from delivering to driving and now processing. It has been good to do 50 years and I’m sure I’ll now be able to squeeze in another 20. I think my wife would like that!’

Leeds work area manager, Michael Graham, confirmed that Peter made ‘short work of the cake.’

Congratulations too to production control supply manager, Gillie McDuff (pictured), from Preston Mail Centre, who celebrates 40 years’ service this month.

Gillie is responsible for resource planning, absence management and hours data recording and measurement.

‘I joined Royal Mail on 17 November 1980 as a counter clerk at Fleetwood Post Office after a six-week training course in Penrith,’ said Gillie. ‘What I love about my current role is that it combines my previous experience in Operations and Human Resources.

‘The best part of my job is working with my book room team, who make it a joy to come into work every day. I am very grateful and happy for the career opportunities Royal Mail has given me over my 40 years’ service.’

Congratulations to all our colleagues, who celebrate 40 or 50 years’ service in November.
