Moving closer

We’re continuing to make progress on our first parcel hub as colleagues prepare to move out to let the automation in.
Warrington colleagues have been using the building of our North West Hub for cross-dock and distribution centre processing operations, but by the end of this year, the processing operation is moving out to allow its transformation into the first of our parcel hubs to commence in earnest.
In January 2021, Beumer Group will begin construction on the Automated Parcel Sorting System (APSS) that will allow more than 800,000 parcels to be processed a day - once fully operational.
Colleagues will move to Unit 3 of the same Mountpark Warrington Omega Industrial Estate to continue their current work to allow the APSS build.
‘The whole team recognises this is a step towards getting to where we need to be as a business and that’s something they’re proud to be part of,’ said plant manager, Eddie Douglas.
‘So far, everything has gone very smoothly, and a lot of that is testament to how professional the team has been.’
The North West Hub is set to be in operation as our first parcel hub by Spring 2022.
‘There are 300 people involved in the relocation who have ensured service continuity to our customers throughout,’ said Eddie.
‘The move allows us to transition from a part-automated, but mostly manual operation, to a fully-automated parcel hub at the heart of the UK operation. Everyone understands the importance of this.’
