Ghostly goings on

Nestled in the Kent countryside, Pluckley is a traditional Wealden village, complete with orchards, cosy cottages, and picturesque country homes.
With just 1,000 residents, the tiny village, with its parish church dating back more than 600 years, is renowned as the location where the Darling Buds of May TV series was filmed.
But despite its chocolate box appearance, Pluckley hides a very disturbing secret - it's officially the most haunted village in Britain, with at least 12 recorded hauntings.
From hanging bodies to a phantom monk, from ghostly horse-drawn coaches, to a grieving woman roaming the graveyard, the village has been plagued by strange sightings for years.
Local pubs The Black Horse and The Blacksmith’s Arms are both home to several ghosts, along with the chillingly named ‘Screaming Woods’, where some brave souls choose to spend the night camping.
The surrounding Tonbridge (TN) postcode area also has various spooky street and house names, including Cackle Hill, Grave Lane and Cobwebs Cottage.
For Ashford postman Robin Medcalf however, Pluckley is just another village on his 17-mile long route, a round he’s been covering for more than eight years.
‘Despite its ghoulish back story, Pluckley is a wonderful community to deliver to,’ said Robin. ‘The only spirits that I’ve seen personally are the ones in the local pub, but it’s amazing to see all the ghost enthusiasts flock to the village from all over the world!’
