New Consumer Collections service rolled-out across the UK

Following a successful pilot deployment in the West of England, we have today, rolled out Parcel Collect – our new nationwide Consumer Collections daily collection service.

Introduced in response to demand from marketplace sellers, consumers and online retailers, Parcel Collect offers customers the convenience of pre-paid and pre-booked collections from any address in the UK (either at their doors or a nominated safe place) – which means that they can post items into our network without leaving their homes. The service, available Mondays to Saturdays, entails delivery colleagues collecting the items whilst on their delivery route (initially up to a maximum of five collection points per walk, per day).

Customers can send multiple items or returns to different retailers in the same collection slot (maximum five items per collection). They can arrange collections using our online channels, including Click & Drop and the Royal Mail app. They will be able to arrange a collection for outbound items purchased on Click & Drop and for Tracked Returns by using a pre-paid label included with their purchase, generating a label on the Returns portal, or via the retailer’s own website. Bookings can be made up until midnight for next day collection and up to five working days in advance (depending on available collection capacity on the customer’s route).

The charges for Parcel Collect are 72p per parcel for items collected from the customer’s front door (in addition to postage costs); and 60p per item for pre-paid return items.

The customer-facing name for Consumer Collections is ‘Parcel Collect’. Collections from firms remains a separate service.
