Capability not ethnicity

At Royal Mail, we are passionate about diversity and inclusion, and we believe that this passion should stretch beyond Royal Mail into the customers we partner with, the communities we serve, and the suppliers we work with.
As part of our diversity and inclusion strategy, Royal Mail is an inaugural signatory of Business in the Community’s ‘Race at Work Charter.’
We are delighted to see that to date, the Charter has been signed by more than 400 of the UK’s leading organisations. We have now written to our valued suppliers requesting that they sign up to the Charter, if they have not already done so.
Signing the Race at Work Charter commits an organisation to the following actions;
- Appointing an Executive Sponsor for race.
- Capturing ethnicity data and publicising progress.
- Committing at board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying.
- Making clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers.
- Taking action that supports ethnic minority career progression.
We understand that all our suppliers are at different stages of their diversity and inclusion journey, but at Royal Mail, we believe it is vital that our suppliers share our values and are committed to making a difference for their people and the wider society.
Businesses can join us in making their commitment public by signing the Race at Work Charter at www.bitc.org.uk/race/.
