When the CHiPS are down…
One notable theme of lockdown life was the tremendous lengths our people went to raise community spirits.
Seeing postmen and women in fancy dress up and down the country became as iconic a look for our customers as our traditional red uniform.
Now one colleague, Wallingford postman John Hall, has taken it further, posing for his own fancy dress charity calendar, in aid of Cholsey Holiday Play Scheme (CHiPS) – a week long children’s holiday club aimed at residents of Cholsey and the local surrounding area.
Press play to hear what effect John’s dressing up antics have had on his customers.
‘Since Covid started, I’ve been coming out in a different costume every single day to basically lift everyone’s spirits,’ said John. ‘A few of my customers suggested that I do a calendar. So, I got myself a photographer and it’s all coming together now.
‘I chose CHiPs because I wanted the money to support the community that I love working in. CHiPS helps young kids before they go to secondary school, giving them a week of activities when they might not be able to go away or have something to do.’
John’s calendar will go on sale over the next few weeks. The price of the calendar will be £8 plus postage. To order your copy, please email John at johnthepostie61@yahoo.com with your name and address.
